This 10-minute video presentation features the damage caused by rhinoceros beetles in coconut plantations, the causes of the outbreak, and preventive measures. The film was produced in the Philippines where rhinocerous beetle attacks had devastated large areas of coconut plantations. This DVD also underlines the importance of Farmers' participation through the Farmers Field School as an effective methodology to educate and empower coconut farmers to manage the pest through learning by discovery, using local knowledge with the minimum application of pesticides.

INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT OF COCONUT MITE (Aceria Guerreronis Keifer)

This video film highlights a brief background of coconut mite (Aceria Guerreronis Keifer), the stages of the attack and damages caused, and the management for controlling this coconut pest based on the laboratory research and field trials in India. The pest is believed to have originated in Africa, and in recent years has invaded coconut regions in India and Sri Lanka. The 19-minute video film also features Farmers Field School (FFS) which proved to be an effective methology to educate and empower coconut farmers on the integrated management of coconut mites using principles and strategies in farmers participation.
